The results showed that cut roses in the holding solution containing 300 ppm aspirin +5% sucrose had the longest vase life of 7.42 days while those in tap water had vase life of 3.83 days. Cu roses in the holding solution had less blueing and bent neck, larger size of blooming, higher rate of water uptake and weight increase than those in tap water. Cut roses in the holding solution containing only 5% sucrose with pH adjustment to 4.0 equalizing to that of the holding solution containing 300 ppm aspirin +5% sucrose, their vase life was shorter than those kept in the holding solution. This suggests that the role of aspirin in extending the vase life of cut roses is a germicide aside from lowering pH of the holding solution. |

The larvaes of the tick (Boophilus microplus) were left to contact with the coating of 1.14 mg/cm2 of crude-extract in bottle. Five crude-extracts of these plants having larvicidal action (90-100% mortality rate) are as follow; Acanthus ebracteatus Vahl., Acrorus calamus L., Annona squamosa L., Luffa acutangula Roxb., and Stemona collinsae Craib. The insecticidal action of these crude-extracts on the adult tick is being test. |

Twenty were from Chiang Mai and 7 from Chiang Rai province. All the samples were planted in August, 1988 in the field plot of the Center Laboratory and Greenhouse Complex. Only 13 collections from Chiang Mai and all 7 from Chiang Rai bore fruits. These fruits were harvested and evaluated. The result showed that most of the plants were tall and late flowering type, giving low yield. The fruit of all collections had yellow and thick flesh of soft texture but thin skin. One collection from Chiang Rai was found to be homozygous recessive as all their progenies had yellow leaves, flowers and fruits which were susceptible to disease. |

Khiew-Waan) was studied during January 1985 to Apil 1985. The results showed that daminozide at 2,000 4,000 and 6,000 ppm applied under the normal irrigation condition tened to increase flowering. The rate of 6,000 ppm gave the highest percentage of flowering (38.8%) while the untreated trees produced the lowest percentage of flowering (13.1%). Daminozide at all concentrations showed no effect on the total nonstructural carbohydrate contents in leaves and stem apexes compared to the untreated trees. Daminozide had no effect on the total nitrogen contents after application until flushing but after that flushing stage the trees having daminozide at 6,000 ppm tended to contain the highest total nitrogen contents in leaves and stem apexes. |

Smooth Cayenne grown in the Eastern part of Thailand. Growth and yield of pineapple increased with increasing N level. The optimum rate of N was in the range of 72 to 96 kg N/rai (1kg/rai = 0.16 kg/ha) wich gave the yield from 13.5 to 14.4 ton/rai. Optimum level of leaf N at forcing time was in the range of 1.4 to 1.8%. Increasing N level decreased or tended to decrease level of leaf P,K,Ca, and Mg. There was no significant effect of N on F:P ratio of the pineapple. |
