Eighteen goats were subcutaneously vaccinated with 1 ml of FMD vaccine, 19 were vaccinated with 2 ml of vaccine, and 5 were not vaccinated (control). Serum samples were collected to determine antibody titer at week 1,2 and 4 after first vaccination and at week 2 after second vaccination (week 6 ater first vaccination ) using LP-ELISA. Results indicated that antibody titer of meat goats vaccinated with 1 ml of vaccine did not differ from that vaccinated with 2 ml (p >0.05). whereas the difference of antibody against serotype O,A and Asia 1 was found to be significant in goats vaccinated with 1 ml and 2 ml (p < 0.05) of vaccine . In conclusion, vaccination with a dosage of 1 ml of vaccine per animal was sufficient to prevent FMD in meat goat as shown by antibody titers titers that could stimulate protective immune response against FMD. |
