หัวเรื่อง:ไม่มีชื่อไทย (ชื่ออังกฤษ : Role of carbohydrates in petal blackening and lack of flower opening in cut lotus (Nelumbo nucifera) flowers) ผู้เขียน:เพชรรัตน์ เนตรลักษณ์, ดร.วชิรญา อิ่มสบาย, ผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์ สื่อสิ่งพิมพ์:pdf AbstractLotus flowers (Nelumbo nucifera Gaertn.) are sold as stems with terminal buds that are about to open, to be used in Buddhist religious offerings. The buds fail to open if the cut stems are placed in water. Moreover, the petals rapidly turn black. This study investigated whether this might be due to a lack of carbohydrates. The inclusion of different sugars in the vase water, together with an adequate antimicrobial compound, had no effect on petal blackening and did not promote flower opening. By contrast, cutting the buds at a slightly more mature stage of development resulted in full flower opening. However, the levels of glucose, fructose, or sucrose in the white petals were the same at the later date of harvest as at the earlier date; thus, this did not explain the effect of cutting at an advanced stage of development. It was concluded that a lack of sugars does not seem to explain petal blackening or a lack of flower opening in lotus flowers that are cut at the normal harvest stage (bud stage). |
หัวเรื่อง:ไม่มีชื่อไทย (ชื่ออังกฤษ : Changes in Ethylene and Total Nonstructural Carbohydrates Content in Stem Apex Prior to Leaf Flushing of Marian Plum (Bouea burmanica Griff.) cv. Toon Klaow) ผู้เขียน:ลดาวัลย์ เลิศเลอวงศ์, Tanart Thunyarpar, ดร.สุรนันต์ สุภัทรพันธุ์, ศาสตราจารย์ สื่อสิ่งพิมพ์:pdf AbstractChanges in ethylene and total nonstructural carbohydrate (TNC) content in stem apex prior to leaf flushing of marian plum (Bouea burmanica Griff.) cv. Toon Klaow were studied. It was found that ethylene concentration in the intercellular space was low and remained constant between the 4th to the 1st week prior to leaf flushing but the level increased to the maximum at leaf flush. Whereas, the TNC content reached the maximum level at the 4th week before leaf flushing, then decreased linearly to the minimal level at the week of leaf flushing. |
หัวเรื่อง:ไม่มีชื่อไทย (ชื่ออังกฤษ : Effect of Waterstress on Total Nonstructural Carbohydrates, Total Nitrogen Contents in Leaves and Stem Apexes of Tangerine (Citrus reticulata Blanco cv. Khiew-Waan)) ผู้เขียน:Pornpun kitinunprakorn, ดร.สุรนันต์ สุภัทรพันธุ์, ศาสตราจารย์ สื่อสิ่งพิมพ์:pdf AbstractThe effect of waterstress on total nonstructural carbohydrates, total nitrogen contents in leaves and stem apexes- of tangerine (Citrus reticulata Blanco cv. Khiew-Wann) was studied at Tumbol Bung Ba, Nong Sua, Patum-Thani Province and at the Physiological laboratory, Horticulture Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Kasetsart University, during January 1985 to August 1986. The results showed that the plants under the waterstress conditions tended to contain higher total nonstructural carbohydrate contents in leaves and stem apexes than those under the normal irrigation. The lowest content of total nonstructural carbohydrate was found during the flushing period of the plants. Total nitrogen contents in leaves and stem apexes under the waterstress conditions the total nitrogen content in leaves was higher than that in the stem spexes. |
หัวเรื่อง:ไม่มีชื่อไทย (ชื่ออังกฤษ : Study on Carbohydrates Contents in the Terminal Shoots during Bud Dormancy of Three Peach (Prunus persica (L.)Batsch) Cultivars) ผู้เขียน:Wasan Pongsomboon, ดร.สุรนันต์ สุภัทรพันธุ์, ศาสตราจารย์ สื่อสิ่งพิมพ์:pdf AbstractIrregular flowering in many peach cultivars is caused by insufficient cold period needed for breaking the dormancy of flower buds. This phenomenon is probably results from insufficient reserved food content in the shoot. The study on reserved carbohydrates contents in the terminal shoot during the dormant stage of three peach cultivars grown at the Royal Ang Khang Station, Amphur Fang, Chingmai Province was conducted. Three peach cultivars of varied chilling requirements namely Flordabelle, Ang Khang White and Ventura were studied by sampling the terminal shoots fortnightly from the beginning of bud dormancy until bud break. The terminal shoot of 5 cm long that bear these excised buds was analysed for reducing sugars (RS) and total non-structural carbohydrates (TNC) contents. The results show that the TNC content in the shoots was high at the first period after the onset of dormancy and sharply decreased thereafter. Similar pattern of changing in that dormant period was seen in the reducing sugar contents. Thereafter the reducing sugar and TNC contents were gradually increased until flowering. However, no relationship was found between the average contents of reducing sugars and TNC in the terminal shoot and the dormancy period of flower buds in these three peach cultivars. |
