Abstract

The lack of interesting teaching media and the lack of motivating teaching methods were problems in teaching Thai proverb. The purposes of this research were to compare students’ achievement learning Thai proverb using paper pelt pictures and using Thai dictionaries, and also to compare students’ achievement before and after the use of paper pelt pictures and Thai dictionaries. The study of students’ achievement learning Thai proverb using paper pelt pictures and Thai dictionaries was done during the academic year 1990-1991. Two sample groups were 60 third grade students studying at Kasetsart University Laboratory School. There were 30 students in each group. The researcher taught one group using paper pelt pictures and taught another group using Thai dictionaries. The achievement test of Thai proverbs were administered as pretest and posttest. The results were : 1) The students studied Thai proverbs through paper pelt pictures gained higher achievement than students studied Thai proverb by using Thai dictionaries at the significant .05 level. 2) The mean scores of the posttest of students studied Thai proverb using paper pelt pictures was significantly higher than their pretest mean scores. 3) The mean scores of the posttest of students studied Thai proverbs using Thai dictionaries was also significantly higher than their pretest mean scores.
