Both personally and on behalf of the Rockefeller Foundation I welcome the participants from abroad and from Thailand to this timely conference. The history of the identification, spread, distribution and importance of the some nine species of downy mildew fungi that infect the corn crop around the world is well known in the reports of Workshop held in India in 1969 and the Symposium in Japan in 1974. |

The population of this study were devided into two groups. The first group consisted of teachers and students of Kasetsart University Laboratory School and the Ubuyama Junior High School in Japan, who participated in the program. The second group were grade nine students of the academic year 1993 Teachers responsible for the program and the parents of students in the exchange program and Thai host families. The results were : 1. Both the Japanese and Thai students and teachers participated in the program enjoyed spending their time in the host countries. 2. Both the Japanese and Thai students and teachers participated in the program had good opportunity in leaning and understanding the culture of the exchange countries. 3. Both the Japanese and Thai students and teachers participated in the program said that had opportunity to share their cultural knowledge with each other. 4. Grade nine students, teachers, parents of the exchange students and the host families had limited opportunity to learn and understand more about Japanese culture. 5. Grade nine students, teachers, parents of the exchange students, and the host families had limited opportunity to share Thai culture to the Japanese exchange group. |
