Blood smears for differential count were done immediately after blood were withdrawn to prevent sickling of red blood cells. Hematological values were completed within 12 hours. Female deer has a nonsignificantly higher packed cell volume, hemoglobin concentration, red cell count, mean corpuscular hemoglobin and mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration while mean corpuscullar volume is lower in female than that in male deer. Red blood cell showed anisocytosis by 20.0% of red cell distribution width. White blood cell count in deer is lower than other domestic ruminants. Lymphocyte exceeded neutrophil by neutrophil : lymphocyte ratio are 38:55 in male and 37:56 in female deer. Plasma protein and fibrinogen concentration are similar to other domestic ruminants. Platelet counts are lower whereas mean platelet volume are higher than those in other domestic ruminants. |
หัวเรื่อง:ลักษณะเฉพาะทางโลหิตวิทยาของสุนัขที่ติดเชื้อปาราสิตในเลือด ผู้เขียน: ดร.เฉลียว ศาลากิจ, ศาสตราจารย์ , นายเจริญศักดิ์ ศาลากิจ, รองศาสตราจารย์ , นางสาวนิรชรา โรจนแพทย์ , Piyawan Suthunmapinunta, Gavil Nunklang สื่อสิ่งพิมพ์:pdf AbstractDuring June 1994 to December 1995, 1035 canine blood samples submitted to Kamphaengsaen Animal Hospital were examined for blood parasite. 260 samples (25.12%) were positive for blood parasite infections. The single infections were microfilariae 11.78%, Trypanosoma sp. 0.48%, Babesia canis 3.07%, Hepatozoon canis 4.54%, Ehrlichia canis 2.32% and Haemobartonella canis 0.68%. The incidence rate of two and three kind of blood parasite infections were 2.03% and 0.19% respectively. Hematological characteristic of four major groups of infection (babesiosis, microfilariasis, ehrlichiosis and hepatozoonosis) which different from control group (n=35) compared by t-test for independent sample were anemia and lymphopenia. The same characteristic of babesiosis and ehrlichiosis were hypoproteinemia, leukopenia and eosinopenia whereas the different characteristic were neutropenia in babesiosis and monocytosis in ehrlichiosis. The same characteristic of microfilariasis and hepatozoonosis was leukocytosis whereas the different characteristic were hyperproteinemia, neutrophilia and eosinophilia in microfilariasis and eosinopenia in hepatozoonosis. Hematological characteristics of mixed blood parasite infected dogs were mixed characteristics of each infection except neutrophilia with left shift. This study showed that hematological characteristics can be useful in the diagnosis of blood parasite infection in dog. |

หัวเรื่อง:ไม่มีชื่อไทย (ชื่ออังกฤษ : Hematology, Cytochemistry and Ultrastructure of Blood Cells from Asian Elephant (Elephas maximus)) ผู้เขียน: นายเจริญศักดิ์ ศาลากิจ, รองศาสตราจารย์ , ดร.เฉลียว ศาลากิจ, ศาสตราจารย์ , นางสาวนวลอนงค์ นาคคง , สุนทรี อภิบาล, Piyawan Suthunmapinuntra, Jutamat Rattanakukuprakarn, Gavil Nunklang, Manoch Yindee สื่อสิ่งพิมพ์:pdf AbstractBlood cells from fourteen (5 males and 9 females) adult Asian elephants were examined and cytochemical stained with Sudan Black B (SBB), peroxidase, periodic acid Schiff’s reaction (PAS), anaphthyl acetate esterase (ANAE) and b-glucuronidase (b-glu). The complete blood counts were performed using automate cell counter. There were no significant differences nearly all hematological values between the male and female elephants except the leukocyte count and fibrinogen concentration which were higher and lower, respectively, in the males than the females. Neutrophils had poorly segmented neclei and many well-differentiated granules. Neutrophils stained strongly positive to SBB, faintly stained with PAS, focal dot stained to ANAE and b-glu. Eosinophils contained 2-3 lobe nuclei, numerous small round red refractive granules with some vacuoles. Eosinophils stained moderately positive to SBB and strongly positive to ANAE but negative to b-glu. Basophils had variable number of intensely basophilic granules which did not obscure the lobed nuclei. Basophils were negative for SBB but moderately positive to ANAE and b-glu. Monocytes stained moderately positive to SBB and moderately to strongly positive to ANAE and b-glu. The bilobed cells stained moderately positive for SBB and strongly positive for ANAE and b-glu which were similar to monocytes. Ultrastructurally, they contained a large number of mitochondria similar to those of monocytes except the shape of the nuclei. The number of bilobed cells exceeded the number of the other leukocytes. Scanning electron microscopy revealed surfaces of all blood cells. Transmission electron microscopy revealed organelles within erythrocytes, platelets and all leukocytes especially bilobed cells. |
