Abstract

This research aims to study the Thai literature which had been complied and restored under the patronage of King Rama I of Ratanakosin. These works of literature were intended to be a model for Thai literature after the great lost caused by the second Burmese Conquest of Ayudthaya. 33 pieces of literature were studied in this research including the hand-written scripts which had never been studied before, which are presently kept at the Manuscripts and Inscriptions Section, Department of National Library. The research concludes that the literature compiled in the Reign of King Rama I has two characteristics. 1) They are copied from the original texts which were important scripture of the Ayudthaya period e.g. Pichaisongkram test, Iran Rajatharm Parable and Athithaiphothibat (Evil Phenomena). 2) They were translated, copied, compiled or written texts which can be divided into religious, chronicle, translated chronicle, legendary, didactic, performance, and code of law literature. Authors of these works of literature were Bhikkhu and scholars of the royal court. There were 36 authors whose names and autobiographies could be found. The restoration of each work began with the search for the original edition. After that, the scholars or experts were asked to do research on it. Often, a group of many scholars took parts in a single work. Afterwards, the outcome of the compilation was finally checked by the Supreme Patriach. King Rama I was very interested in religious literature and had co-authored the first version of Triphumlokwinitchayakatha. Another important author in his reign was Praya Dharmpreecha (Keaw). Besides the knowledge about King Rama I literature found in the research, we can see the over all picture and the method of restoration, Above all we can appreciate the ingeniuity of King Rama I as the patronage of the Ratanakosin literature restoration.

หัวเรื่อง:ไม่มีชื่อไทย (ชื่ออังกฤษ : Alternative Marketing Systems for Organic Agricultural Products in Japan: Accumulating Social Capital to Protect the Ecology)

ผู้เขียน:ImgWanna Prayukvong

สื่อสิ่งพิมพ์:pdf

Abstract

This study was undertaken to observe the marketing of organic agricultural products in Japan using collectively based systems such as the teikei system and sanchoku schemes, and to determine whether such methods differ from the mainstream marketing of normal agricultural products. Data was collected through a review of secondary sources and in-depth interviews with representatives of successful consumers' and farmers' groups involved in the Japanese organic agriculture movement undertaken. The results of the study show that the difference between the alternative marketing systems of the organic agricultural sector in Japan and other traditional marketing schemes is that social capital plays a much more defined role in the alternative system. The marketing systems in use in organic agriculture bypass the middlemen who are common in normal marketing chains. In addition, alternative marketing systems are focused not only on exchanging products but also, perhaps more importantly, on creating an alternative community by establishing a relationship between farmers and consumers who have the same goals of conserving the environment and maintaining their community.

Abstract

This exploratory study sought to investigate if any association existed among color preference, personality, and stress of public university students in Bangkok Metropolis. Four hundred and fifty students of public universities in Bangkok were selected, using multi-stage sampling technique. Three instruments were employed to gather needed data: Personality Inventory, Perceived Stress Measure, and Color Preference Survey. Chi-square and discriminant analysis were used to determine association among the variables studied and group membership prediction. The findings of this study showed that the majority of the sampled students preferred cool color (58.9%). Regarding clothing selection, the majority of the respondents preferred neutral color (63.8%). As for everyday-life items, their preference on neutral color and cool color were almost the same proportion (39.2% and 37.8%, respectively). Reasons for their color selection were: preference, appropriateness, convenience, emotion, complexion, figure, and care. The findings on their personality revealed that the proportion of extrovert-stable and extrovert-neuroticism were about the same (29.4% and 28.4%, respectively). The results also showed that the majority of the respondents were at normal level for their stress (56.0%). The relationship among color preference, personality, and stress of the students showed that color preference was significantly related with personality and stress at the .05 level; classification of group membership showed 54.4 and 33.3 percent of cases were correctly classified, respectively. Personality was significantly related with stress at the .001 level; classification of group membership showed 46.1 percent of cases were correctly classified.

Abstract

This research was conducted in order to study teachers? understanding and reflections on the nature of science in their teaching of atomic structure. The data were collected by interviews and classroom observation of three teachers from three public secondary schools. The interview data were transcribed and analyzed by searching for patterns and/or categories which were used to construct profiles of teachers? views of the nature of science. The teachers? practices were analyzed by Video Analysis Tool (VAT) as technical support and Reflect View on Nature Of Science (RVNOS) to find out how and to what extent the teachers used the nature of science to teach atomic structure. The research found that the teachers understood three aspects of the nature of science: science needs evidence to support, science is tentative, and imagination and creativity are important to science. However, they believed that science follows the scientific method. The notion that science is universal and independent from social and cultural influences was held by the teachers. The classroom observations found that teachers rarely reflected the nature of science in their classrooms, even in the areas they understood well.

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to study the relationship between the big 5 personality factors and perceived social supports and gelotophobia symptoms; to study the impact of the role of perceived social supports on the relationship between the big 5 personality factors and gelotophobia symptoms; and to predict gelotophobia symptoms on the basis of the big 5 personality factors and perceived social supports. The subjects were 358 undergraduate students who were studying at the Faculty of Humanities, Srinakharinwirot University in the academic year 2008. Findings showed that neuroticism had significantly positive correlations with gelotophobia symptoms at the .01 level. Extraversion, openness to experience and conscientiousness had significantly negative correlations with gelotophobia symptoms at the .01 level. Agreeableness had significantly negative correlations with gelotophobia symptoms at the .05 level. Perceived social supports from both family and friends had significantly negative correlations with gelotophobia symptoms at the .01 level. However, results revealed that levels of perceived social supports from both family and friends did not have any impact on the relationship between extraversion, openness to experience, agreeableness, conscientiousness and gelotophobia symptoms and found that level of perceived social support from friends did not have any impact on the relationship between neuroticism and gelotophobia symptoms. Abstract

The teaching regarding to P?pa (Sin) is a very significant scheme of the Lord Buddha's teachings. He teaches P?pa through Three Admonitions of the Buddha (Buddha ? ovada) as follows: to prevent from any sin, to give up any evil, and to purify the mind. The above mentioned approaches will bring us to a noble path and a peaceful mind. Since any kinds of sufferings originate from those sins and their results will affect oneself and others. Hence, an analytical study about P?pa (Sin) is regarded as a main purpose of this analytical study in order to comprehend what is the real sin according to Therav?da Buddhism; what types of action are defined as "sin" ; and what is the classification between good and evil. At the present time, there are a lot of debatable issues: such as Cloning, Doctor's Euthanasia to HIV patience, and killing believers of other sects, being discussed whether they are good or evil. The main ideas of the finding are as follows : the meaning of Papa (Sin), the origination of Papa (Sin), the characteristics and types of Papa (Sin), and the impact of Papa (Sin). When the meaning and concepts of Papa are understood, there will not be problems on the judgement of good and evil, or at least it will be judged most accurately.

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to determine research productivity of vocational educators, causal relationship of factors influencing research productivity, and to develop the causal structural relationship model of research productivity. The proposed research productivity model consisted of 5 latent variables and 12 observed variables. The sample was 354 vocational educators in higher education institutions. The research instruments were a questionnaire and a semi-structured interview schedule. The statistics used for data analysis were descriptive statistics, t-test, three-way analysis of variance, factor analysis and path analysis. The research results indicated that: 1) average research productivity that measured by the number and quality of research within the last three years was relatively low (2.02). 2) Interaction of education, specialty and institution were not significantly different. Research productivity of educators holding higher degree was significantly more than research productivity of educators holding lower degree (p=.000). 3) The factor analysis indicated that personal factor consisted of research experience, time for research, research skill, research achievement motive and research habit; research environmental factor consisted of researcher collaboration, research climate, document and research fund (c2= 928.34, p=.000). 4) The causal structural relationship model was well fitted with empirical data (c2= 55.8, p=.18, GFI=0.92, AGFI=0.90, RMR=0.086, RMSEA=0.09). Factors of the model were personal factor, environmental factor, research attitude and research self-efficacy. The causal model could explain about 82 percent of the variance in research productivity. The personal factor contributed to the highest total effect on research productivity. Recommendations were proposed to encourage research productivity at three levels: personal, institutional and governmental.
