Red kidney beans were soaked in distilled water for 6 and 12 h, and then cooked by steaming (30, 60, and 90 min) or boiled in pressure cooker (10 and 15 min). After extraction of raffinose and stachyose contents from flour made from soak-cooked beans, the results from HPLC showed an important decrease in oligosaccharides of soak-cooked beans. The highest decrease in raffinose and stachyose was to soak beans for 12 h and then boil in pressure cooker for 15 min which was 47% and 44%, respectively. |

Ferraris was an indirect penetration. Within 48 hours after inoculation, the conidia on red kidney bean leaf surface germinated germ tube and formed appressorium at the penetrated through stomata. Infected hypha grew in substomatal cavity and expanded to reach mesophyll, parenchyma, palisade and epidermis cells. It later ramified extensively in intercellular space. Disease symptom firstly appeared in the form of pale yellowish spot ten days after inoculation and subswquent growth of infected hypha was intracellular. Hypha was aggregated to form stroma in substomatal cavity. Conidiophore was produced and emerged from stomata to produce conidia. Sporulation was completed within 4 days after disease symptom appeared. |

The results of statistical analysis revealed the existence of the negative correlation between disease severity and garonomic characters. It indicated that as the dissease severity 4 increased, height at maturity, day to maturity, number of pods per plant, number of diseasse-free pods per plant, number of seeds per pods of non infected and infected pods, 100 seeds weight and grain yield were decreased. The angular leaf spot disease reduced yield of red kidney beanin rainny season to 59.44, 88.84, 140.09 and 177.33 kg/rai and 44.56, 71.43, 84.87 and 100.13 kg/rai in dry season when the level of disease severity increased to 2, 3, 4 and 5 respectively. The results of this study suggested that the assessment of yield losses of red kidney bean due to angular leaf spot disease in rainny season can be estimated by linear regression ? = 466.07 - 42.53 x and ? = 375.59 - 24.02 x for dry season. Seeds of Mecosta cultivar were germinated on MS supplemented with 11.0 mg/l BA. Cotyledonary nodes were excised from 14 day-old-seedling and then cultured on MS to which 0.05, 0.5 and 1 mg/l IAA and NAA in combination with 1.0 and 5 mg/l kinetin and 1.0, 5.0 and 11 mg/l BA were added. Multiple shoot buds were produced only on MS + 0.5 mg/l IAA +11 mg/l BA; MS + 0.5 mg/l NAA + 5 mg/l BA and MS + 1 mg/l NAA +11 mg/l BA. For further shoot development and elongation, shoot buds were cultured on MS, L6 and RB1 containing 1.0 mg/l BA. The highest number of developed shoots were observed on MS while the RB1 yielded the poorest shoot development. |
