Abstract

The purposes of this research were to develop and validate a causal relationship model of organizational commitment and study the direct and indirect effect of constructive culture, quality of work life, and job satisfaction in the organizational commitment of the Technical Department of Thai Airways International Public Company Limited. The study involved correlational research with mixed methodology. The population consisted of 4,318 staff of Thai Airways International Public Company Limited and sampling of 320 cases using a proportional stratified random sampling technique as quantitative data. A sample set of nine cases by purposive sampling was used as qualitative data. The research instruments consisted of a questionnaire and structure questions for focus group discussion. The statistics used for data analysis were Pearson’s product moment correlation, confirmatory factor analysis, structural equation modeling. Qualitative data were analyzed by content analysis. The research results indicated that the model was consistent with the empirical data at a good level (?2 = 56.27, df = 44 ?2/df = 1.28, p–value = 0.10, GFI = 1.00, AGFI = 0.94, RMR = 0.01). The factors in the causal relationship of model development of organizational commitment in the Technical Department of Thai Airways International Public Company Limited were constructive culture, quality of work life, and job satisfaction. The causal model accounted for 64 percent on the variance of commitment. The factors that effected commitment were: constructive culture, quality of work life, and job satisfaction.

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to study causal relationship between intellectual capital, knowledge management and organizational effectiveness and to design an intellectual capital management model in nursing college, Ministry of Public Health. Samples were 348 instructors and 13 nursing college administrators in the 2007 academic year. Data were collected using a questionnaire constructed by the researcher. The statistics used for data analysis were descriptive statistics, correlation coefficient analysis, factor analysis and structural equation model analysis. The findings revealed that 1) Nursing colleges had managed their intellectual capital in terms of human capital at high level and in terms of structural capital at moderate level. Knowledge management process was found to be at moderate level with the highest scores on knowledge dissemination and the lowest on knowledge capture. 2) The intellectual capital management model consisted of components as follows: human capital, structural capital, knowledge management process and organizational effectiveness with knowledge management process as mediator having highest direct effect. This model was corresponding to the empirical data and R-Square equal to 0.81 3)Two intellectual capital management models in nursing college were identified. The first model focused directly on human capital and the second one focused on human capital and structural capital through knowledge management process.
