Abstract

This study was undertaken to observe the linkage between the concept of happiness and capability in craftsmen of One Tumbon One Product Project or OTOP by adopting a Buddhist economic approach. A sample of three hundred and seventy seven craftsmen were selected from members of eighty-eight OTOP community enterprises for an interview by employing open-ended questions. Most of the craftsmen had a view of happiness as having an affluent and vigorous family life. They had a capability which was the summation of craftsmanship, creativity and the ability to perform the entire process of production and make other products. Their concept of their state of happiness was not directly correlated with their capability. The linkage between them was their correlation with the social capital index (SCI) on an individual level.

หัวเรื่อง:ไม่มีชื่อไทย (ชื่ออังกฤษ : The Technical Coefficient of Reused Inputs in Alternative Agriculture System: A Case Study from Khon Kaen Province, Thailand)

Abstract

The objective of this paper is to discuss the technical coefficient of reused inputs in alternative agriculture system, primarily through the use of Input-Output analysis to estimate technical coefficients displayed in an Input-Output Table. The information used was obtained from 51 cases of primary data from a stratified random sample in Khon Kaen Province, Thailand. The technical coefficients of reused inputs from the Alternative Agricultural I/O table were rather low, mainly because there are few activities in Alternative Agriculture, resulting in limited techniques of how to reuse by-products and low demand. Nevertheless, the exchanged value of technical coefficients was still low. They still have a potential to be higher in the future through the development of reused input techniques. Besides, all of the reused inputs were only a waste in the monocropping system which required the cost input to eliminate.

หัวเรื่อง:ไม่มีชื่อไทย (ชื่ออังกฤษ : Alternative Marketing Systems for Organic Agricultural Products in Japan: Accumulating Social Capital to Protect the Ecology)

ผู้เขียน:ImgWanna Prayukvong

Abstract

This study was undertaken to observe the marketing of organic agricultural products in Japan using collectively based systems such as the teikei system and sanchoku schemes, and to determine whether such methods differ from the mainstream marketing of normal agricultural products. Data was collected through a review of secondary sources and in-depth interviews with representatives of successful consumers' and farmers' groups involved in the Japanese organic agriculture movement undertaken. The results of the study show that the difference between the alternative marketing systems of the organic agricultural sector in Japan and other traditional marketing schemes is that social capital plays a much more defined role in the alternative system. The marketing systems in use in organic agriculture bypass the middlemen who are common in normal marketing chains. In addition, alternative marketing systems are focused not only on exchanging products but also, perhaps more importantly, on creating an alternative community by establishing a relationship between farmers and consumers who have the same goals of conserving the environment and maintaining their community.
