ที่มา:วารสาร คณะสัตวแพทยศาสตร์หัวเรื่อง:ไม่มีชื่อไทย (ชื่ออังกฤษ : The Association Between Body Weight and Body Size Values, and the Estimation of the Weight of Crossbred Native Thai Ponies ) ผู้เขียน:นางสาวมณีนุช เขียวอินทร์, อาจารย์, Tepyuda Sritrakul, Niratchada Limsuwan, Pattarawadee Thamsatit, ดร.วรกิจ เชิดชูธรรม, ผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์ สื่อสิ่งพิมพ์:pdf AbstractThirty-seven crossbred native Thai ponies, aged over two years old were weighted (BW-1) (kg) by electrical weighing machine and weight tape. Body measurements (cm) have been recorded. The height at wither (HW), length from tuber ischium to point of shoulder (L1), length from tuber ischium to olecranon (L2) were measured by using an equine meter stick. The chest girth (CG) and umbilical girth (UG) were measured by length tape. The correlation coefficients(r) of CG, L1, UG, HW and L2 with BW- 1 were 0.882, 0.878, 0.868, 0.864 and 0.820 respectively. The suitable associate values between body measurements and BW-1 are from CG and L1. Through Multiple Linear Regression Analysis (MRA), the weight estimating equations were developed. Other seven crossbred native Thai ponies were weighted (BW-2) and used for calculating the estimated weight from all equations as well as weight tape. The estimated weights from all methods of second group of ponies were compared with BW-2. The accuracy of estimation methods was performed by calculating for the percentage difference of BW-2 from estimated weight. The most fit equation for weight estimation was found to be: Body weight (kg) = [2.362*CG (cm)] + [2.177*L1 (cm)] - 356.367; (R2 = 0.852, p<0.001). The estimated weight calculated from this equation was not different (p-value = 0.299) form that of the BW-2 and the percentage difference was 2.1%. We concluded that live weight of crossbred native Thai pony can be estimated from the body measurement and the CG and L1 are suitable body measurement predictors. |
