The morbidity rate of goat and sheep was 28% and 68% respectively. With red vesicles on the lips and gums, the sick animals had difficulties in eating, The diagnosis of the disease was based on history, clinical signs, lesions, histopathology, an ability to induce disease in sheep by scarification, the demonstration of parapox virus particles by electron microscope and the result of positive complement fixation test to known contagious exthyma antigen. It was then concluded the these animals were infected by contagious ecthyma disease. |
